Local Medical Group Offers Telemedicine and House Calls
United Medical House Calls is a primary and urgent healthcare practice based in Southold providing services to home-bound patients throughout Long Island. In response to the changing needs this virus presents, and in addition to our home visits, we are now offering several options for remote diagnosis and treatment through telemedicine. We have medical providers ready to receive calls from any home-bound patient and concerns are addressed via phone or video conferencing from 9 am to 9 pm weekdays and also by appointment on weekends. We are even providing smart phones in certain areas for patients who feel they need a video conference but do not have the equipment to accomplish this. We are offering counseling services through licensed clinical social workers via telemedicine as well. These services are covered by Medicare and we understand that certain private insurances will also compensate for telemedicine services.
Within the next few days we will also be offering a No Contact Urgent Care Kit — which will include an electronic stethoscope with remote ECG, a blood pressure cuff, a pulse oximeter, a Tempadot thermometer, an electronic otoscope and a smart phone that will allow patients to check vital signs, perform other tests and produce photos of ears, nose and throat for a remote diagnosis. Since the mechanism is not in place for insurance coverage yet we will be charging a fee for this service.
Again, we thank you for all that you are doing and for your commitment to protecting our local residents. We hope we are doing our fair share in contributing to this fight and welcome any suggestions from you on how we might do better!
